Pole Pole Wooden Animal Shark
Description
Based on fossil scales found in Australia and the United States, scientists hypothesize sharks first appeared in the ocean around 455 million years ago.
T-Lab Japan and Pole Pole wooden animals have been a part of Japanese culture for over 10 years. The name PolePole pronounced "poh-leh poh-leh" comes from the Swahili words meaning "slowly, slowly". A direct reference to the carefully and slowly hand carved nature of each animal.
Each Pole Pole animal is skillfully carved by hand in Indonesia. The wood is then carefully sanded to create a super smooth surface and finally hand painted and finished in Japan.
Each piece is somewhat different and quite unique. Only skilled and meticulous artisans can achieve an almost identical result from one animal to another.
Hand crafted from soft white Albizia wood (similar to balsa). This tree is one of the quickest growing tropical trees. Because of their rapid growth it is thought that these trees are more sustainable. The wood comes from T-Lab's own carefully managed farm in Indonesia. There is no chemical or pollutant treatment in the wood or in the paint used.
Pick your favorite Pole Pole wooden animals and fill your home with a lot of cuteness.
