“New York in blue” shows the skyline of a city of skyscrapers under an intense blue sky. The buildings, painted with vertical strokes in violet and blue, merge into the background, and a tower with a spire stands out on the left and a taller one on the right.

In front, a row of trees in green, pink and blue rests on an orange strip, and below it a large flat blue area fills the lower part.

Blue dominates the whole composition, interrupted only by the green of the treetops and the orange of the ground. The brushstrokes are left in plain view, and the volumes are built with patches of color rather than lines.

Pierre-Emmanuel Lyet depicts colorful atmospheres and ethereal backgrounds, blending patches of color. His work moves between the introspective, in soft tones, and the festive, in bright colors, always with a fluid, spontaneous expression.
