At the foot of the wall, a small wooden boat with a figure sails over a grey-green sea of fine waves, and a small white shape floats beside it. The difference in scale between the boat and the white mass conveys a sense of immensity.

The pinkish white of the wall, the orange of the sky and the greyish green of the water share the composition in large planes, with visible brushstrokes and scrapings.

This illustration is part of Manuel Marsol's images inspired by Moby Dick, Herman Melville's novel. Manuel Marsol (Madrid, 1984) has become, in just a few years, an international reference in illustrated books.
