The Nomenclature of Colors print by Roomytown is a fine art print inspired by the work of ornithologist Robert Ridgway, who in 1886 sought to standardize and catalog the different tones and shades used to describe bird colors among professional and amateur naturalists.

Decades after his first publication, Ridgway created another volume with more than one thousand colors, a reference that continued to be useful for naturalists and artists. Roomytown’s design team has used this collection of color swatches to create a graphic, elegant composition full of history.

It is giclée printed on museum-quality, uncoated matte paper, 200 g/m², sourced from sustainably managed forests, using water-based inks that reproduce the details and nuances of the illustration.
