Danish artist Søren Behncke's Chambre B/R is a tribute to Van Gogh's iconic 1888 painting "La Chambre à Arles". Behncke is an artist who often pays homage to other painters by making paintings and graphic work inspired by photographs or paintings of these others.
The artist has deconstructed Van Gogh's famous bedroom and repainted it with a predominant palette of blue and red. He also transformed figurative elements such as the chairs, table, paintings, bed and closet into a semi-abstract alphabet of shapes.
This piece was created using a lithographic printing technique, a procedure in which a plate of limestone or metal is used.
