“Boogie Body” by Brecht Evens depicts a landscape-format night scene dominated by dark blues and greens. On the right, a glass house raised on stilts reveals its yellow-lit interior, and its reflection spreads across the water.
In the foreground, a pond with concentric ripples mirrors the vegetation, made up of trees, shrubs and leaves of very different shapes and textures, with dots, veins and cut-out silhouettes. In the background, wooded hills stand out against a sky of blue bands with a few stars and a dark orb.
The palette moves between blues, greens and blacks, and the yellow light of the house is the only warm point in the scene. The fluid brushstrokes of the sky and the water contrast with the detail of the vegetation.
This illustration is part of the graphic universe developed by Belgian artist Brecht Evens for his graphic novels. His best-known publications include The Wrong Place, The Making Of, Panther, The City of Belgium and The Jellyfish King.
