Wooden Doll No. 16
Description
Alexander Girard's Wooden Dolls are a large family of wooden figures that represent human and animal characters.
Girard created them in 1953 as decorative objects for his home in Santa Fe.
The originals, which are part of the Girard collection belonging to the Vitra Design Museum, served as a model for the current reissues.
Precisely replicated down to the last detail, Vitra's Wooden Dolls are still made and painted by hand, exactly like Alexander Girard's vintage pieces. And although the differences between them are minimal, each figure is an exclusive and individual product, unique.
