Description
This engraving by Marina Anaya is an intaglio engraving printed in the traditional way. It is a printing technique that has been used in the same way for more than 500 years.
In the artist's own words about the Formentera engraving: "and its light, and its breeze, and the vegetation of the island, and the deep feeling of happiness that one feels when arriving at its coast. These are the little things that I see in this engraving. And a couple celebrating love in peace".
Chalcographic engraving:
The works are the result of the manual embossing of one or more metal plates on paper by means of a press. On the metal plate, which is used as a matrix, the drawing is engraved with salts. The bas-reliefs on the engraved plate are filled with highly viscous ink. The excess ink is wiped off the surface and the plate, with the paper on top, is passed through the press under high pressure. This transfers the ink from the recesses of the plate to the paper. The image is characterized by a tactile relief created by the combination of the deformation of the paper and a thick layer of ink. This process is repeated as many times as necessary to add the drawings, colors and textures required for the engraving. Finally, the number of engravings is stamped to complete the edition.
