Rain Szeto's ‘Meet Cute’ captures a charming moment in front of the iconic Green Apple Books & Music, located at 506 Clement St, San Francisco, CA. Founded in 1967 by Richard Savoy, this shop has been a mainstay of the literary community for over 50 years. What began as a small 750 square foot storefront, with a collection of used books, comics and magazines, has grown into one of the Bay Area's most beloved bookstores, expanding and adding music and DVDs to its inventory.

The scene, reflected in a convex mirror, shows a man walking his dog in front of the shop, with shelves full of books stretching out onto the pavement. Meanwhile, a woman, also accompanied by her pet, appears to emerge from the doorway next to the shop. The mirror encapsulates this small universe within a circular frame, slightly distorting the image and capturing the essence of a casual and endearing encounter in a place full of history.

The blue sky with soft clouds, together with the vibrant green colour of the shop and the meticulous details of the illustration, create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Szeto succeeds in capturing the historical and cultural richness of a place that, over the years, has maintained its essence despite renovations and growth.
