The Madrid Flea Market Fine Art 30x40
Description
This print is described by Javier Mariscal as a corner of a big city where thousands of objects accumulate, each one waiting for a second or last chance, as if they were an x-ray of society.
In the Rastro de Cascorro in Madrid, Mariscal wanted to integrate, among the typical stalls of decoration and household objects, pieces that could have been in these spaces, evoking a very recent past: among the objects are the Copenhagen ashtrays by André Ricard, an iconic design from the 1960s; a portrait of his friend Carlos Ceesepe, made by Javier de Juan; the magazine Vicios Modernos de la Cascorro Factory, created by Ceesepe and Alberto García-Alix; and the robot doll by Nazario XM2.
There is also a figure of Astro Boy, the first manga character of the fifties, on a ceramic by Miquel Barceló, next to a pirate's set with reproductions of Miró. Not to be missed are the 1957 Kodak Brownie camera, a Polaroid, Coderch's famous Disa lamp, Miguel Milá's Cestita lamp, Joan Miró's Aidez Espagne poster, two New Yorker covers by Saul Steinberg, a Matisse catalog, Pablo Picasso's 1937 cement head, and Philippe Starck's iconic juicer for Alessi.
Limited to 100 copies, signed and numbered by Javier Mariscal.
