Pole Pole Wooden Animal Chow Chow

The T-Lab Japan brand and Pole Pole wooden animals have been part of Japanese culture for over ten years. The name Pole Pole comes from the Swahili meaning 'slowly, slowly', which refers to the careful and unhurried work required to create these pieces.

Each Pole Pole animal is skillfully carved in Indonesia. The wood is then carefully sanded to create a smooth surface and finally each piece is hand-painted and finished in Japan.

Each Pole Pole has slight differences, making them unique. It requires a lot of skill and meticulous work on the part of the artisans to achieve almost identical results between each animal.

Pole Poles are made of albizia wood (similar to balsa). This is one of the fastest growing tropical trees. This is why they are considered more sustainable trees. This wood comes from the T-Lab factory in Indonesia. The pieces have no chemical treatment on the wood or paint.
