‘Adam’ by Camille de Cussac is a portrait that combines the aesthetics of tattooing with a deeply personal narrative. The male figure, with a serene and contemplative expression, is adorned with tattoos that seem to tell the story of his family. On his left shoulder, a portrait with the inscription ‘daddy’, and on his right shoulder, another with the word ‘mommy’, suggest an intimate connection with his parents. The tattoos, which spread across her torso and arms, form a free-form family tree, with depictions of siblings, a wedding and a grave, hinting at the loss of family members.

The necklace around her neck, with a medal depicting the image of a woman, possibly a virgin, adds a touch of spirituality and protection to the image.

The work conveys authenticity, confidence and humility, emphasising the protagonist's clarity of priorities.
